Techniques

My Techniques Page is where I give details on how I created the layouts and designs, what techniques and products I used. Hopefully you will find a new technique to use on your own creations or maybe a new twist on an old technique...

Beach Bliss
I created this layout using BoBunny patterned cardstock for the background and Basic Grey Lauderdale papers. I cut out the florals and used pop dots for dimension. The flowers are spayed with Ranger's Perfect Pearl Mists in interference red, forever blue & kiwi. The flowers centers are misc. bulk gems and adhesive backed rhinestones adhered with the irock tool by Imaginisce. The Bling is by Prima, cut apart and placed throughout.

Dunn's Falls
For this layout I used the Quick Quotes Sumetime Blues line and a sheet of handmade textured paper. The background is cardstock sprayed with Ranger Perfect Pearl Mists. I fussy cut out all the flowers and arranged them on the pages, some are popped with 3D foam squares. For the centres of the flowers I used glossy accents and several colors of seed beads. The "Moments" accent as well as the 3 glass sqaures on the bottom of the layout are memory glass by Ranger. I alcohol inked the glass using a blend of colors and the ranger inking tool. For the "memories" and "flower" glass I used the blending soloution on a piece of paper towel to wipe off the ink in the centre of the glass so the paper showed through the glass better. I used glossy accents to adhere the glass to the patterend paper. While the glossy accents was drying I put pressure on the glass causing it to break creating the effect you see.

Lucious
I used Kaiser Craft Chapter One collection, TPC Studio Just Beachy, Pow glitter paper by American Crafts and metallic cardstock to created this page. The ferns are all fussy cut out to frame the photo and layered with 3D foam to add dimension. I used Tattered Angels chipboard glimmer chips(seaside). I used a mixture of Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam & Glaze to add color to the chips, once dry I lightly sanded the raised parts of the chips and inked them with a turquiose and green ink. The small paper shells are cut out from the paper and spayed with goosebumps to give them texture (looks like waterdrops on the shells) The film strip piece I used the Chandelier Glimmer Glam by Tattered Angels in the open windows and inked the raised areas with turquiose ink. The letters "Beach" are white lettered from Fancy Pants that I inked to match my layout.

Stylin'

I have used the Best Creations Rock Star paper line in this design this layout. I fussy gut arount the guitar and wings on the die cut to pop them over the edge of my photo. I used the Tim Holtz Film Strip die cut out of black cardstock on the Left hand page and mounted it on a light teal cardstock. I then used Rangers Rock Candy clear Crackle Paint on the inside of the film strip windows. The "Stylin" letters are Tim Holtz grungeboard letters stained with Tim Holtz Distress Stains in Faded Jeans and Broken China and a "Thick" layer of the Ranger Crackle paint over top. The music notes are Twiddleybitz, I inked them in black first and used Ranger black Enamel Accents over them to make them glossy black. The metal looking ribbon is from Webster's Pages. I used Tim Holtz tissue tape from his Symphony set along the bottom of the layout. Professional photos taken by Heartland Studios.

Totally Cool

I used Teresa Collins On the Edge papers, I was instantly inspired by them and so excited when I came accross the perfect pictures to match the pages! I cut the paper into waves that overlap in the background and tore some the edges to give them a distressed look. The gears are cut using Tim Holtz Gadget Gears, the transparency gears are dyed with Ranger alcohol inks. The crest in the right corner is the Regal Crest die from Tim Holtz cut from different papers. The metal gears, plaquettes and wings are from Tim Holtz. The very cool metal rivet looking ribbon is from Webster's Pages. Professional photos taken by Heartland Studios.
